Ginger Biscuits

Makes about 100 biscuits (150 year old recipe)

450 g syrup                             
1 egg
5 c cake flour                         
200 g butter/marg
1 c blown sugar                       
15 ml bicarb of soda
5 ml salt                                 
30 ml ground ginger
a little milk
            

1.        Cream the butter.
2.       Add the sugar & syrup, cream well.
3.       Add the egg, mix.
4.       Add the flour, ginger & salt, mix well.
5.       Mix the bicard in a little milk & and add to the mixture.
6.       Mix well, cover & leave overnight. The dough will be ready the next day.
7.       Pre-heat the oven to 180*C (350*F).
8.       Grease the baking trays.
9.       Roll the mixture into balls, walnut size.
10.    Place on greased baking trays.
11.     Press each ball down with a finger tip.
12.    Bake for 12-15 minutes or until brown.
